East German luger Norbert Loch came in 13th at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics in the men’s singles event. Directly after the games Loch turned to coaching at the age of only 21-years-old. He became one of the most successful luge coaches ever in East Germany and later in unified Germany.
In 1992, Loch, father of successful luger Felix Loch, became chief regional coach in Bavaria. In 2008 he became chief national coach as the successor of Thomas Schwab.
