Mohamed Ben Hadj Abdelouahed studied at the Moulay Youssef College in Rabat and the Commercial Academy of Paris. He was a merchant and company director of the National Tea and Sugar Board in Morocco, and was an administrator of the Autonomous Department for the Distribution of Water and Electricity in Casablanca. He was also a member of the Moroccan Senate and held a number of Cabinet posts.
In sports administration Ben Hadj Abdelouahed helped found many Moroccan sports organization, notably in 1937 forming the Omni-Sports Wydad Athletic Club. He founded the Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation in 1957 and later became a Vice-President of the International Amateur Rugby Federation. He was a founding member of the Moroccan Olympic Committee, and served as its President from 1965-73. He served on the International Committee for the Mediterranean Games, was a member of the Organizing Committee for the 1983 Mediterranean Games in Casablanca, and was a director of the 1961 Pan-Arab Games in Casablanca. Ben Hadj Abdelouahed was co-opted onto the IOC in 1961 and served until his death in 1997.
