Béatrice Allen worked in the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for The Gambia from 1974-89 and was a national officer of the UNDP from 1990-2002. She was executive director of trade and investment promotion in The Gambia from 2004-10.
In sports administration Allen was President of The Gambia National Olympic Committee in 2010-11 and was again elected to that position in 2021. She was an honorary member of The Gambia Golf Association and was first vice-president of the World Baseball Softball Confederation.
Allen was co-opted onto the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 2006 and served until 2020 when she was required to step down because of age limits, at which time she was made an Honorary Member of the IOC. During her time on the IOC Allen served on the following commissions: Women and Sport (2004-), Culture and Olympic Education (2008-), Coordination for the Games of the XXXI Olympiad Rio 2016 (2010-16), Olympic Education (2015-), Women in Sport (2015-), Public Affairs and Social Development through Sport (2017-), Sustainability and Legacy (2017-), Evaluation for the Youth Olympic Games 2022 (2018), and Medical and Scientific (2018-).
