Sebastian Köber

German boxer Sebastian Köber surprisingly won the bronze medal in the heavyweight class at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, losing his semi-final to the eventual gold medallist Félix Savón from Cuba. Four years later at Athens, Köber participated in the super-heavyweight class but lost his first-round match.

Köber was German heavyweight runner-up in 1998 and won the International Kaunas Tournament in 1999. In 2001, he won the renowned Chemie Cup at Halle. The following year he was again beaten in the final of the national championships, and was third at both the European Championships and Military World Championships. In 2003, Köber won his only German national title and came second at the Chemie Cup at Halle. He also won the bronze medal at the World Championships that year. In 2005, Köber enjoyed his greatest moment in winning the Military World Championships. He then turned professional and took part in 19 bouts until 2010.

Köber studied business administration and as a trained bank clerk. He later graduated and worked in the liquidity control and guarantees department of Bonava Germany based in Fürstenwalde/Spree.
