Biography

Fernando, Count de Vallelano was a high ranking Spanish politician who served as Permanent Under-Secretary of Education (1920-32), Mayor of Madrid (1924-28), State Councillor (1945-47), and he was appointed Minister of Public Works in 1952. In sports he was interested in alpinism, fencing, riding, and shooting. Count de Vallelano was co-opted onto the IOC in April 1931 but had a less than stellar term on the Committee.
