Nezam Khoi was the son of an Ayatollah who had played an important part in Iran’s Constitutional Revolution of 1905 and served eventually in the resulting parliament. Khoi was educated in Switzerland and married quite young to the daughter of Hassan Vuzuq, the Persian Minister who was pro-British. Vuzuq’s brother, Ahmad Qavam, became Prime Minister in 1921 and sent Khoi and his wife to London for further study, in addition to appointing him as the Persian Oil Commissioner in London. Khoi later served as Persian Ambassador to Switzerland and, on his return to Persia, became the Government Legal Inspector to the Central Bank. His Olympic involvement was minimal. He was co-opted onto the IOC in March 1921 and served two years on the committee but never attended an IOC Session.
Khoi’s daughters married Hassan Ali Mansour and Amir-Abbas Hoveida. Mansour was Prime Minister of Iran from February 1964 until January 1965, when he was assassinated. Hoveida then succeeded him, serving as Iranian Prime Minister from January 1965 until August 1977. After the Islamic Revolution in 1978, Hoveida was brought to trial, found guilty of multiple crimes and put to death.
