Youssoupha Ndiaye was an IOC Member from 2002-17 and chaired the Ethics Commission from February 2007 to September 2017. He also served on the Juridical Commission from 2002-15. After 2017 he became an Honorary Member of the IOC. Ndiaye started in sport as a footballer and won a gold medal at the 1963 Friendship Games. He later served as President of the Senegalese Football Federation and Minister of Sport in Senegal.
Ndiaye earned a degree in philosophy at the Lycée Faidherbe, Saint Louis in 1959. He received a law degree from the Faculty of Law in Dakar in 1964, and became a judge in Senegal in 1966, eventually becoming President of Senegal’s Supreme Court from 1976-84. He also served on the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and was later President of the Constitutional Council in Senegal from 1993-2002.
