Antônio Prado was a top cyclist, winning the South American Cycling Cup three times, and winning the 1897 Paris-Deauville motorpaced race. He was also an early supporter of the automobile, and raced the 1913 São Paulo-to-Curitiba rally, driving with Washington Luiz, President of the Brazilian Republic from 1926-30. Prado founded national sports federations in Brazil in athletics, basketball, fencing, and tennis. He became an IOC Member in March 1938 and remained a member until his death in November 1955.
