Carlos Silva-Vildosola became a diplomat after graduating university and served as Secretary of the Chilean Embassies in London and Paris. On his return home he became a journalist with South America’s oldest newspaper, El Mercurio. He was a supporter of US President Teddy Roosevelt’s policy of Pan American cooperation and attended the Pan American Congress in Havana in 1928. Silva-Vildosolva was made an IOC Member in September 1919, but served only two years, resigning in November 1921.
