Biography

Adolf, Count von Arnim-Muskau studied law in Heidelberg, Halle, and Berlin. He had many sporting interests, including tennis, shooting, hunting, horse racing and breeding, motorsports, and golf. He was President of the German Racing Club, the prestigious Union Club, and the German Automobile Club. Von Arnim-Muskau was a cavalry officer, as were many early German IOC Members. He was co-opted onto the IOC in December 1913, but because of German activities in World War I, he was suspended as a member in April 1919, in accordance with the IOC decision concerning German members, and was never reinstated.
