Caesar, Count von Wartensleben Carow studied law in München and Erlangen, obtaining a doctorate from the University of Erlangen for a thesis entitled “The Sale of the Estates of the Nobility.” He was co-opted onto the IOC in April 1902 after recommendations from Pierre de Coubertin and Count Talleyrand-Périgord, resigning in December 1913. Count von Wartensleben Carow organized the 1909 IOC Session in Berlin, after the death of Count von der Asseburg. Caesar, Count von Wartensleben Carow was a member of the Executive Board of the German Motor Yacht Club (1907-13), and was a major factor in the choice of Berlin to host the 1916 Olympics.
