Wu Ching-Kuo

Wu Ching-Kuo, usually known as C. K. Wu, studied architecture at Tung-Hai University in Chinese Taipei, at the Oxford College of Technology, and at Liverpool University, both in Great Britain. He later became the principal of his own architectural firm, C. K. Wu & Associates International. He has served on multiple corporate boards, both in the Pacific Rim and England.

In sports Wu captained the Tung-Hau University basketball team from 1966-68, and was a runner-up in 1966 at the National Basketball Championship. Wu became an executive member of the AIBA (International Amateur Boxing Association) in 1982, serving until 1998, but in 2006, he became President of AIBA, succeeding Pakistani Anwar Chowdhry.

C. K. Wu was made an IOC Member in 1988 and was appointed to the Executive Board in 2012. He has served on multiple IOC Commissions during his tenure, including the following: International Olympic Academy; Cultural; Coordination for the XVIII Olympic Winter Games in 1998 in Nagano; Culture and Olympic Education; Olympic Philately, Numismatic and Memorabilia; Olympic Games Study; Coordination for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in 2008 in Beijing; Evaluation of the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in 2016; Coordination for the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro; and as Chair of the Olympic Philately, Numismatic and Memorabilia Commission. In 2013, he ran for IOC President, but was eliminated in the first round of voting.
