The oldest of 10 children to a St. Albans tobacconist, Leonard Morrison was a stalwart of the Hertfordshire (Herts) FA and served as referees’ secretary, and also secretary of the Herts County and Midweek Leagues. Although he officiated in some FA Cup games, and inter-county matches, he was primarily associated with the Spartan League, of which he was also the referees’ secretary. Morrison ran the line in the first-round match between Denmark and France “B” at the 1908 London Olympics. Shortly before his death he was made a life vice-president of the Herts FA in recognition of his long service with them.
