Yngve Palmqvsit was one of Sweden’s best international bandy players of the 1950s. Early in his career he was a member of the national team that competed in the bandy demonstration event at the 1952 Oslo Olympics. There he played in both matches, with Sweden being defeated by Norway, but then besting Finland by a large-enough goal differential that Sweden ended up in first place. A goalkeeper, Palmqvist suited up for several domestic teams over the course of his career and won national championships. He also played with the national team through 1961, capturing a bronze medal at the inaugural 1957 World Championships and silver in 1961.
