Max Puckett played and pitched for the West Torrens club and the Nedlands Baseball Club in the 1950s and 1960s. He represented the Western Australian Team from 1954-57 and the South Australia State Team in 1961-62 and 1964-65, playing for Western Australia at the 1954 Claxton Shield. He was on the Australian National Team in 1956-57, 1961, 1964, and 1966, and played in the Australian Olympic demonstration game. Puckett was also known in Australia as a fast cricket bowler. He played one international match for South Australia during the 1964/65 Sheffield Shield season. Puckett is honored in South Australian baseball by several awards named for him, the Max Puckett Memorial Award, the Max Puckett Medal, and the Max Puckett Junior Scholarship.
