Biography

Petra Huber was an Austrian tennis player who played professionally from 1984 to 1987. Huber achieved a career-best singles ranking of 37 in the world in October 1984, and a doubles ranking of 64 in the world in March 1987.

As a junior player Huber reached the semi-finals of the girls’ doubles at the Australian Open and the semi-finals of the girls’ singles at the French Open. She won her first of two WTA doubles titles at the 1984 Ilva Trophy in Italy with partner Sabrina Goleš. Her other doubles title came two years later at the Austrian Open, this time teaming with Petra Keppeler. Huber won one WTA singles title during her career with a straight sets victory against Laura Garrone at the 1986 Spanish Open. Huber competed in the singles at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics when tennis was a demonstration sport. She lost her opening match in straight sets to Kathy Horvath of the United States.
