At the 1952 Helsinki Olympics the sport of pesäpallo, the Finnish variant of baseball, was contested as a demonstration event. It was played by two Finnish team representing the Finnish Baseball League and the Workers’ Athletic Federation, with the Finnish Baseball league team winning, 8-4. Osmo Juntto was one of the players who played for the Workers’ Athletic Federation at the Helsinki Games. Juntto played in the pesäpallo championship series from 1954 to 1958 in his native Finland, as well as playing in the traditional East-West match in 1959.
