German sabre fencer Alexander Weber won the bronze medal with the men’s team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. In 2002, he won a team bronze at the World Championships. He also added another team bronze medal at the 2007 Pan American Games, when he was representing Argentina. Weber was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. In 2005, he took the name of his wife Achten and the citizenship of Argentina.
