Biography

Defender Nicole Brandebusemeyer was a member of the German women’s football squad that won the bronze medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics by beating Brazil 2-0. Therefore, she was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. Brandebusemeyer won eight international caps and was among the squad for the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup, but only as a substitute.

At club level, Brandebusemeyer played with Hagener SV and Grün-Weiß Brauweiler (later re-named to FFC Brauweiler Pulheim). With the latter she won both the German Championship and the German Cup in 1997. By profession Brandebusemeyer studied sports science, became a soccer coach and personal trainer, and was employed by her first club Hagener SV.
