Ivone Mufuca played handball for Angola at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. She started her club career with National Benguela, but later played for Grupo Desportivo Enana, and finally Athletic Sport Aviation (ASA), where she won a 1998 National Championship. She played for Angolan teams that won three African Championships. Mufuca was the mother of two girls but in January 2016, she died during childbirth of her third daughter.
