Betsy Muus was born in Arnhem in the Netherlands in 1891 and was a student of the Belgian sculptor Geo Verbanck. Muus was a fine sculptor in her own right, with her work being part of the art competition at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. Her work Head of a Boy has been displayed at the Museum of Fine Arts Ghent.
