René Andrei was a son of a sculptor in Paris. In 1920 he joined the studio of sculptor Louis Aimé Lejeune and attended the Drawing Academy on Montparnasse. He continued his training at the Académie des Beaux Arts under Henri Bouchard, when he participated in the Olympic Games. He received the “Grand Prix des Arts” in 1937 and numerous other awards. Andrei was a member of the Societé des Artistes Français and received many orders for official monumental works.
