Marcel Berger was a French novelist and journalist who wrote several novels about sports. Berger occasionally wrote under pseudonyms. A member of the writers’ association, the “Société des gens de lettres de France” (Society of Men of Letters of France), he was President of the French Association of Sports Writers from 1947-66. He was named Officer of the Legion of Honor and Commander of the Order of Sporting Merit. In 1924, he published the Histoire de quinze hommes (History of fifteen men), the epic story of a rugby team, submitted for the 1924 art competitions. Berger was a member of the Racing Club de France and was a friend of Frantz Reichel, Olympian and, at the time, President of the Association of Sports Journalists.
