Marcel Chauvenet-Delclos studied in Paris and was influenced by the Catalan Romance (he came from Perpignan). He was a pupil of Jean Boucher, and later worked as a medalist and coin designer. His brother André was a respected surgeon, who supported him financially. The member of the Société des artistes français was awarded the National Prize in 1933. In 1953 he was appointed professor at the École National Supérieure de l’Enseignement Technique in Paris and in 1962 at the École des Beaux-Arts. The terra-cotta relief Ronde Sur L’eau (Round dance on the water, also known as Ronde Sur Mer = Round dance on the sea) was created for the new construction of the ferry port of Le Havre in 1949. Apart from Chauvenet-Delclos, two other sculptors contributed their works to the complex.
