Biography

François Clemencin was known as a medalist and for his figurative and finely chiselled bronze statues. He studied under Jules Coutan and exhibited at the Paris Salon of the Société des Artistes Français from 1901–30 where he received many medals and gained honorable mention. He exhibited preferably historical genre scenes in plaster and bronze. The bronze statuette Diane Chasseresse (Diane Huntress), designed approximately 1930, is 42 cm high with a dark green marble base. The same motif was also used by Clémencin for a plaque.
