Biography

Alain Macle was a ski jumper who competed at the 1968 and 1972 Olympic Winter Games. He started out as a youth in Alpine skiing but after joining the French Army, serving in the Joinville Battalion, he made the French ski jump team in 1972. That year he won the French title at La Bresse in the Vosges, and competed in his first World Championships at Holmenkollen in 1966. He won French titles again in 1967 and 1969.

Macle married and the couple settled in Métabief, where they ran a catering business, “Le Tremplin.” They sold that in 1979 and bought the restaurant next door, “Le Grill”, which they ran for over 20 years.
