Frenchman Albert Laisant was the son of Charles Ange Laisant (1841-1920), a well-known mathematician and politician. Albert was an anarchist, journalist, poet, freemason and libertarian educator. He was introduced to anarchist ideas by Sébastien Fauré, and Albert turned the whole family onto anarchism, including his father, and his two sons, Maurice and Charles. He also focused on freemasonry since 1916. Together with his sister, he was one of the founders of the Concordia Human Rights Lodge in Paris. He accepted the position as director of the Masonic orphanage under the condition that he was only in charge of educational matters, and could implement his modern approach. When charges were brought against him regarding financial problems, he quit his job.
