Biography

Josephine Cheesman was a furnishing fabrics designer, mainly working for the manufactory Turnbull & Stockdale near Manchester. The company was one of the most artistically adventurous manufacturers of the 1930s. Josephine Cheesman worked with Hans Aufseeser, son of graphic designer Ernst Aufseeser, to produce textile design in combination with mosaics, tapestries and book jackets.
