John Sanderson-Wells

John Sanderson-Wells was a British painter of genre scenes, which were mainly paintings of interior scenes with figures in 18th century costumes, sporting events, coaching and hunting scenes, and animals. He studied at the Slade School of Art in London and later at the Académie Julian in Paris. From 1895 Sanderson-Wells was a regular contributor at the Royal Academy and was elected to the Royal Institute in 1903.

The four works he submitted in 1948 were all watercolors. No work with an identical title, however, could be proven to be the 1948 submission. The most likely candidate is An Early Meet (watercolor, 38 x 62 cm).
