Biography

British Reginald Till was a tile and faience (fine tin-glazed pottery) designer. He submitted a pottery bowl The Sprinters to the 1948 Art Competitions at the London Olympic Games in the category Painting, Applied Arts. Educated at the Royal College of Art he was granted a scholarship to study architecture in Scandinavia. Starting in 1923, Till was employed by Poole Pottery in Dorset for almost 30 years. During this time, he designed baths and swimming pools, e.g., for the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth oceanliners. In 1951, Till joined Purbeck Tiles in Swanage. His son Kenneth Till (1920-2008) became a well-known pediatric neurosurgeon at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London.
