Eduard Krüger

German architect Eduard Krüger was involved in several new buildings or reconstructions in Schwäbisch Hall after World War II. He studied at the Technical High School in Stuttgart. In his youth, he suffered skull injuries first in a traffic accident and again as a soldier in World War II. From 1948-61 he worked as a city planner and consultant at Schwäbisch Hall, in his hometown. In the 1920s and 1930s he was active in Stuttgart, not only as a master student of the “Stuttgart School,” but as the assistant to the well-known Professor Bonatz, who was the architect of the Stuttgart Central Station and the guest house in the local park. He died of a stroke.

The “Memorial House of the Swabian Skiing Confederation” was intended as an accommodation for skiers and at the same time to commemorate the members of the Confederation who died during World War I. It was built in 1931/32 and offered 44 beds. Electrical power was supplied by a wind-driven power plant. The original building burned down in 1991.
