Konstantinos Doxiadis was well-known as the lead architect of the Pakistani cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. He studied in Athens and then in Berlin-Charlottenburg, where he did his doctorate. During World War II, he was active in the resistance and represented Greece in the subsequent international negotiations, especially regarding reconstruction. From 1936-45 he worked as an urban planner with the City of Athens. In 1951, Doxiadis founded an internationally active company for architecture and urban planning. In the 1960s and 1970s he authored books, studies, and reports including those regarding the growth potential of the Great Lakes Megalopolis.
His submitted work was his dissertation from 1937, published in Heidelberg and Berlin. It was the 2nd volume of the “Contributions to Spatial Research and Spatial Planning” of the German “Reichsstelle für Raum-Ordnung”.
