Italian sculptor and medalist Omero Taddeini received an Honorable Mention at the 1936 Berlin Olympics in the Art Competitions within the category Sculpturing, Medals, for his work Medals. He first studied music in Firenze and then moved to Siena in 1923, where he dedicated himself to sculpturing and left music behind.
Taddeini settled in Roma, and had remarkable results at the School of Art with medals and coin designs for the mint. He was considered one of the most important medalists in Italy. Among his more important works of sculpture were a 4 m high marble statue of Victorious Hercules at the Foro Italico in Roma, and a monument of Christopher Columbus in Haiti. He won numerous sculpture and medal competitions, and also presented at numerous national and international exhibitions. Notably, Taddeini exhibited 22 medals at the 1940 Venizio Biennale. In addition, he wrote theoretical writings on the art in Fascism. There is no information about the medals entered in 1936. The bronze badge The Wrestlers, however, submitted in 1948 does not show two wrestlers, but a fighter wrestling with a lion.
