Dutch town planner Ben Moolhuysen was the city planner and Director of Public Works in Sittard. He made a town plan for Sittard in 1955, which was partially implemented. The swimming pool, whose design he submitted with his partner, the city architect Sjraar Cuijpers, to the 1936 Arts Competition, was named after him. The pool is located in the city park of Sittard and was completed in 1933. It was in operation until 1985 and was demolished 10 years later except for the entrance building. The main planner of the city park was Dirk Tersteeg.
