Samuel Henchoz was a graphic designer, poster artist and medalist. He first attended the arts and crafts school in Vevey and subsequently the École des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne. He then worked as a decorator and graphic designer in France. At the beginning of World War II, he returned to Switzerland and taught at his former school in Vevey. There Henchoz later headed the photography department. In addition, he was still commissioned with posters and graphics, especially for tourism and the watchmaking industry. Later he made a name for himself as a graphic designer in typography and wrote the textbook Modèles de lettres (Typefaces). His entries Vicit I and II were originally his contribution for the competition Participation of Switzerland in the international competition for a medal of the Olympic Games. He received, just like Milo Martin, the highest premium of 450 Francs.
