August Peisker was incorrectly spelled Peischke in the catalog of art competitions. He was a jeweler and goldsmith, who originally came from Bohemia and had run a business in Basel since the end of the 19th century. According to the catalog, the Joueuse de Tennis is a silver statuette. It was the property of the BSC Old Boys in Basel, founded under the name F.C. Old Boys Basel in 1894. The tennis division was founded in 1927, just one year before Peisker’s participation in Amsterdam. In 1935, the division became independent as Tennis Club Old Boys. This was the club where multiple Grand Slam winner Roger Federer started his career.
