György Doros was a Hungarian fencer, who placed third in the men’s individual sabre event at the World Championships in 1930. He competed for the Rendőrtiszti Atlétikai Club, and was also a member and delegate of the Hungarian Fencing Association. During the 1930s and 1940s, he wrote several books on sports sociology. His works became extremely important for the further development of sport sociology and psychology. He was, however, against women taking part in competitive sports. As a supporter of the Nazi Party, he was not allowed to resume his law practice after the war and committed suicide, poisoning both himself and his wife with gas.
