Juan Gavazzo was a painter, decorator and sculptor, who lived in Paris from 1915-25. He was considered one of the main importers of Modern Art in Argentina. His paintings (portraits and still lifes) were marked by a strong use of color. Gavazzo studied at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid and the Académie Ranson in Paris. From 1925-52 he represented his home country in Europe as a Diplomat serving in Spain, France, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Yugoslavia. As a painter he received several awards in Argentina.
