Maia Wiig-Hansen married a Norwegian captain who had emigrated to the USA when still a teenager. She then lived in the USA for many decades, which is probably why she was invited to exhibit in Los Angeles in 1932 “hors concours”. It is not clearly stated in the art catalog whether Wiig-Hansen participated in the art sections of sculpture or painting, but she was primarily known as a painter.
