Brit Norman Tyrrell was the son of the sculptor Thomas Tyrrell (1857-1929) who taught modelling at South London Technical School of Art from 1895 until at least 1924. Several of Norman’s siblings were also sculptors or in related occupations. Tyrrell represented Britain at the 1948 London Art Competitions.
