Another mysterious British Olympian from the early days of the Olympics was swimmer Ellinger. Very little is known about him but there is a possibility that he was P. Ellinger. In 1898, a P. Ellinger represented the United Sports Club (USC) of Paris and finished third in a 1,100 metres race from the Pont Bineauà on the RIver Seine. A Ph. Ellinger also played for the USC football team and in 1900, along with E. Smith and A. Balavoine, Ellinger was appointed to the swimming committee of the USC.
