Emilio Paggetti was a leading Italian pole-vaulter in the 1920s, who first made an impact by finishing second to Giacinto Lambiasi at the 1920 Italian Championships. Runner-up again, to Adolfo Contoli, in 1922, Paggetti eventually won his only Italian title the following year when he beat both Lambiasi and Contoli with a vault of 3.40m. At Bologna in 1924, Paggetti was second to Lambiasi again in the national championship. He never went to the Paris Olympics that year, however, because Italy did not send a vaulter to the Games.
