German half-heavyweight judoka Uta Kühnen was eliminated in the pool stage at her two Olympic appearances, at Sydney in 2000, and Athens four years later. In 1997-98, and 2000, she won bronze medals at the European Championships. Nationally, Kühnen won titles in 1997 and 1998, and won the International German Championships in 2001. By profession, she became a process technologist in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
