Milano’s Gilberto Palazzi was a 400 metre hurdle specialist. His first big result was placing third at the 1946 Italian Championships in Milano, repeating that finish in 1947. In 1948 Palazzi set his career personal best of 53.9, and was listed as an alternate for the London Olympics, placing third at nationals again later in the year. Palazzi retired in 1949, after earning four international caps during his career.
