Biography

Imre Retezar was a student when he was selected to represented Hungary in the 110 metres hurdles at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, although he did not start the competition. He did take part in that event at the 1957 World University Games, where he just missed a medal in fourth, behind Stanko Lorger of Yugoslavia, the non-Olympian Georgi Kaburov of Bulgaria, and Milad Petrušić, also of Yugoslavia. Domestically, he was national champion in that event from 1960 through 1962 and in the 200 metres hurdles in 1962. He later had a career as an entomologist and authored over two dozen publications, the last of which came out shortly before his death.

Personal Best: 110H - 14.9 (1952).
