German-born breaststroke simmer Patrick Schmollinger was eliminated in the 100 metres heats representing Austria at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Two years earlier he had won a bronze medal at the European Short-Course Championships over 50 metres. That same year he won the German 100 metres national title over. He later studied economics.
