Biography

Czech tennis player Květoslava Hrdličková was a doubles specialist who was ranked number one in the world in July 2011. Hrdličková played professionally from 1993 to 2022, earning more than $6.1 million in prize money. In 2010 she reached the doubles final at the French Open with Slovenia’s Katarina Srebotnik, but lost in straight sets to the Williams sisters. The following year Hrdličková and Srebotnik won the doubles title at Wimbledon with victory against Sabine Lisicki and Samantha Stosur. Hrdličková reached one more Grand Slam doubles final during her career, where she finished as a runner-up at Wimbledon in 2018 with her American partner Nicole Melichar.

Between 2006 and 2012 Hrdličková also reached the mixed doubles final at the US Open on three occasions but finished as a runner-up each time. As a singles player her best performance came at Wimbledon in 2005 where she reached the fourth round, losing to Nadiya Petrova. In 2000 she played in the singles and doubles at the Sydney Olympics, pairing with Dája Bedáňová in the latter. Hrdličková was 46-years-old when she called time on her career in April 2022, with her being the oldest active player in the WTA rankings at the time.
