German triathlete Joelle Franzmann finished 21st and 16th at the 2000 Sydney and the 2004 Athina Olympics, respectively. In 1993, she was Youth European Champion and in 1995 runner-up at the Youth World Championships. In 2000 and 2005, Franzmann won the German Championships in short-course, and placed second in 2001, 2003, and 2004. In 2008, she won the Military Worlds.
Franzmann was not nominated for the 2012 London Games. She then retired, married, and raised two daughters, both also active triathletes. She studied sports economics and health management and worked with the Saarland Triathlon Union.
