Biography

Karel Masopust was a defenseman who spent his entire club career in the Czechoslovakian League. He started out playing with HC Dukla Jihlava in 1961, but moved to TK Spartak Praha Sokolovo in 1963, and stayed with ČKD Praha (after a name change) through 1970, when he moved to Motor České Budějovice. He returned to ČKD Praha in 1974-75 for one season before playing his final year with Ingstrov Brno, retiring after 1976. His only international tournament appearance was at the 1968 Winter Olympics, where he won a silver medal. Masopust later became an international scout for the San José Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL).
