Hans Mehlhorn was a graduated jurist. He became a bronze medal winner in the four-man at the 1932 Winter Olympics at Lake Placid together with Hanns Kilian, MaxLudwig and Sebastian Huber. Four years earlier he had won the German Championship in what was then the five-man bob.
